It is common for car owners to mix old and new engine oil of the same type when they see that there is less engine oil, but they do not want to replace it all, so they add some of the same type of engine oil. The impact of this situation is that it will reduce the protective effect of the new engine oil. The reason is that after using the engine oil for a period of time, the antioxidants, additives, etc. inside will gradually become ineffective. The main issue with mixing different grades of engine oil from the same brand is the difference in engine oil viscosity. The engine has certain requirements for the viscosity of the oil, and different vehicle models need to choose the corresponding viscosity of the oil. Oil with viscosity of 40, 30, or 20. If different viscosity engine oils are mixed, such as 5W30 and 5W40 engine oils, their performance will be lower than 5W40.
