The previous article wrote about the issue of cold start. Friends who need a detailed understanding can take a look. Today, let's talk about the problem of car shaking during cold start, and what is causing it.
Cold start shaking is a common problem in gasoline cars. The fundamental cause of shaking during cold start or idle waiting is poor combustion in the cylinder. If the combustion is not good, the power provided by the car will be insufficient, and the car will shake. For example, let's assume that a horse needs to exert 100 points of force to pull the car, but if it only applies 60 points of force, it will naturally be unable to move and cause shaking.
The first problem that a car faces during a cold start is low ignition energy. The temperature inside the engine is not enough, and the temperature of fuel and lubricating oil is not enough. Therefore, during a cold start, more fuel should be injected to meet the power requirements. The larger the gap between the spark plugs, the smaller the ignition energy. At low temperatures, fuel atomization is not good, and fuel requires higher ignition energy. When the car is used for a long time, the ignition gap of the spark plug is easily enlarged, leading to a decrease in ignition energy, which affects power performance and causes the car to shake. In addition, aging of ignition coils, aging or leakage of high-voltage wires in spark plugs can also lead to a decrease in ignition energy.
Dear friends, if the car experiences shaking, cold start difficulties, engine oil burning, and other reasons, it is really necessary to check the condition of the car carefully, rather than believing one side and thinking that there is a problem with the oil you use. Some oil pans cannot be used. Nowadays, oil products are generally qualified, and the probability of problems is very low when using qualified oil products, let alone high-quality products like Wells that guide the market with quality. And we promise that if the engine malfunctions due to oil quality issues, we will take full responsibility. It is also easy to detect any quality issues. If you go to the national authoritative department for testing, the results will soon be available. Therefore, don't fall into the trap. Cars are also consumables and will enter the aging period, which requires more attention and care.
Below we will elaborate on the reasons for the shaking:
1. Inappropriate mixing ratio
The mixing ratio of oil and gas is not accurately adjusted, which exists in both open-loop and closed-loop control. In a closed-loop controlled car, the minimum operating temperature of the oxygen sensor is 370 ℃. If the car is just started, the oxygen sensor will not work because the temperature in the exhaust pipe cannot reach 370 ℃. At this point, the ECU made a judgment error, causing errors in the control of oil and gas mixing and ignition time through the actuator, thereby reducing the vehicle's power output and causing shaking.
2. Carbon buildup in valves and intake ports
If carbon deposits occur in the valves and intake ducts of the engine, as carbon deposits can absorb an appropriate amount of fuel (just like water flowing over a river embankment and soil absorbing water), the ECU determines that there is an error.
The computer actually controls the injection of 100 parts of oil and gas, but only 90 parts actually enter the cylinder (10 parts are absorbed by carbon deposits). Even if the remaining 90 parts of mixed oil and gas are fully burned, they still cannot achieve the required power, and shaking is inevitable.
3. Different working conditions of each cylinder
Similarly, spark plugs in multi cylinder engines may also have the aforementioned issues. After long-term use, the ignition gap and time control of the spark plug may differ, but the ECU cannot diagnose this deviation and still treats them equally, resulting in practical and theoretical errors. As a result, some cylinders produce less power, which can cause shaking.
After long-term use of the engine, the gap between each cylinder liner and piston may also vary in size, with some having a larger gap and others having a smaller gap. During cold start, without proper oil lubrication, large gap cylinders are prone to leaking a certain amount of high-temperature gas from the gap, thereby reducing power output.
4. Water temperature sensor malfunction
What would happen if you have a fever but the temperature gauge reading is normal? The water temperature sensor is one of the important criteria for computers to determine the engine operating conditions at that time. If the temperature of the engine during cold start is minus 10 degrees Celsius, but the sensor "tells" the computer "the current temperature is 20 degrees Celsius", then the computer will inject fuel according to the working condition of 20 degrees Celsius, and the fuel volume should be small, so shaking is naturally occurring.
5. Other factors
The air flow meter is dirty, causing a decrease in intake volume; The working condition of the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve is not good, and exhaust gas is introduced during idling; The idle motor controls the bypass intake duct to adjust the intake volume. If the voltage is low, it may not work properly; The oil quality is too poor to reach the corresponding heat value, resulting in a lower power output during combustion. The above four factors can all lead to poor combustion of a certain cylinder during cold start or idle waiting, resulting in engine vibration.
I hope the above explanation will be helpful to everyone. Just now, we mentioned that cars also enter an aging period, which includes a series of problems such as aging parts, blocked oil circuits, and aging circuits. Therefore, we need to take more care of them. This kind of care is best started from a young age, so that we can have a strong physique when we get old. It is recommended that when maintaining your car, use high-quality products as much as possible.
